Q: Will insurance cover eyelid surgery?

A: Insurance may cover all or part of eyelid surgery if there is function impairment of vision involved. Documentation of the impairment has to be obtained prior to the surgery and submitted to the insurance company to be sure; contact your insurance company before surgery to see if you qualify or need to see a primary care physician first for a referral.

Q: Will there be much bruising after surgery?

A: Because Dr. Capriotti uses a laser for the surgery, there is usually no bruising after the surgery. There is a variable amount of swelling, usually short lived, and handled with cold compresses and medications.

Q: Is there much pain involved?

A: There is usually minimal or no pain.

Q: Are the incisions noticeable?

A: If surgery on the lower lids is done inside the lid. There are no external incisions. If incisions are made on the skin they become almost completely undetectable in a few weeks.

Q: Will I have to repeat the procedure later?
