Abdominoplasty is the procedure where excess skin of the abdomen is removed to give a smoother toned look to the abdomen. Unfortunately, the joys of motherhood are sometimes clouded by stretch marks and loose skin which often results from stretching of the skin and muscle over a nine month period.
Once the skin is stretched and fractured (stretch marks), its almost impossible for the excess skin to retract after the pregnancy to give a smooth, youthful appearance. If the skin excess is not too great liposuction alone may suffice to give a good result but if there is a lot of skin laxity, the excess skin has to be removed to tighten the abdomen.
If the laxity is confined to the front part of the lower abdomen, a mini abdominoplasty with liposuction may suffice (see before and after pictures).

But if the skin is loose over the thighs and hips, a full abdominoplasty with liposuction is required to get back in shape. If the wrinkling is not confined to just the lower part of the abdomen, but also involves the skin above the umbilicus, a full abdominoplasty is required.
At Capriotti Cosmetic Surgery Center we perform a lateral high tension abdominoplasty which means that all necessary liposuction can be done at the same time to give an improved figure (see before and after photos).
Too often we see patients who have had a modified abdominoplasty done elsewhere where the patient had a flat stomach but still has excess fat in the waist and hips. The stomach is flatter but the shape is boxy. We believe that with one procedure the patient can have both a flatter abdomen and a good shape. The abdominoplasty is done by the lateral high tension method so that all necessary libosuction can be done at the time without added risk to the abdominoplasty healing.
Our philosophy is to find the safest method which gives the best overall result in one procedure.
